On opening the Map Module users are
presented with the screen below

On the screen are a big map and a smaller
map
The big map is initially set to the
National Level and provides a view of the entire country
It shows provincial boundaries of Canada’s 10 provinces
and 3 territories
Red stars indicate the location of Canada’s capital city (Ottawa) and the capital
cities of each of the ten provinces and 3 territories
The smaller map (bottom right of the big
map) allows users to change the view in the big map from a national view to
the level of an individual province or territory . Simply
click the province tab and then click on any province in the map

A series of 10 tool buttons at the top of
the big map allow users to navigate and select information from the map
Also above the big map are tabs for
choosing the sub-regions at the national or provincial level

The tab changes when the user loads a provincial
view in the big map and allows users to choose

Above the tabs is the geographic layers
box. This box allows users to group regions into larger regions. For
example, if a user chooses census divisions in the layers box when the
census subdivisions tab has been clicked, then the census sub divisions
will be regrouped into census divisions
A drop down list box and the two option
tabs below allows users to select and set the geographic layers of analysis

Two drop down list boxes (top right of the
map) allow users to select and set demographic/socio-economic indicators
for analysis
The
Canada button (top right) takes the user out of
the MAP Module into the TABLES Module.
